I am writing to inform you of the FIRST EVER San Diego Eagle PUP 2014 Contest. I know that in the past other titles in the Leather LGBT Family along with other events within the local community have been breaking ground and building bridges in the community at a rate that’s unprecedented. I am anxiously looking forward to an even greater sense of Pride in our Leather Community as well as creating title roles for outstanding members to advocate leather education and represent the San Diego LGBT Leather Community. 

With the recent burst of interest in the Handler/PUP fetish community and with all the exciting things happening for OUR San Diego Leather LGBT family we believe it is time to add a NEW title.

O’Connor Media teamed up with the San Diego Eagle and created the San Diego Eagle PUP 2014 Contest. This title will be a great catalyst for those that wish to continue their growth within the Handler/PUP Community and can lead to many other titles in which those that have earned them can represent the San Diego Community. This may occur not only locally but through out the United States and also on an international level. 

The event will be on Saturday October 19th at 8 pm with Mistress of Ceremonies the ever witty and forever beautiful Celeste W. Star. There will be several smaller events but still very important ones in conjunction with the contest. Such as on the 18th The Official Contestant Meet and Greet starting between 5-6 we will have Sister Chlammydia Burns of the San Diego Sister of Perpetual Indulgence blessing the contest. There will also be a performance by Bebe Gun a groundbreaking performer with a style like no other as well as items from some of our many sponsors!! 

Sunday is our Victory Beer Bust Celebration for the Winner starting around 5pm. At each event there promises to be many surprises!!

• Email your information to Jon at pipebearoc AT gmail.com - He'll get it locate in the right place.  If you're on Facebook, also post it here.

• There are "equals" signs in a row, to separate your event from other people's events.  This breaks up the events in a less-confusing way.

• The events are in chronological order, and START by listing the date and time, first.  No exceptions.

• All events either contain all "Who, What, When, Where, How Much and Why" information, or else have a WEB LINK AT THE END which allows folks to dig deeper if they are interested.  Web-links don't work inside Facebook in the normal way, so please paste the actual, full web-address.

Don't Forget About The World Outside of Facebook!

and outside of Facebook, totaling about 5,000 followers,
and adding between five and seven new followers a day.
Every single day.

• The place to store long, detailed information is elsewhere, on a separate web-page, not in the listing itself.  The only exception is if the crucial information only exists on Facebook, thereby becoming inaccessible to the thousands of folks who follow FMSD and hate Facebook.  If you are dedicated to reaching the largest number of possible attendees, don't be biased toward folks on Facebook only.


GUIDELINES FOR SUCCESS:

Many people make "rookie mistakes" when they plan for events. This has happened many, many times.  "Winging it" is the quickest way to break the heart of a new community leader, who tries the best that he or she can, and then fails. At that point, they drop away, and we never hear from them again. I'm dedicated to making it easier for folks to succeed and to continue doing excellent community work.

• If you're going to create an event, make plans for it, and announce it for the first time, at least a MONTH beforehand.  Not two days.  Nowadays, folks have very short attention spans, and very full calendars, and way too many options to tempt them in other directions. We have to work with them in their way. Not ours.  The idea is to encourage folks from Palm Springs/LA/wherever to decide to ride-share down to San Diego to join in the fun. You have to give them adequate time to coordinate plans. You also want to "mark your territory" on the calendar, so that others don't plan a big, conflicting event that stomps all over yours.

• Then, remind them at least a week beforehand.  This will refresh their poor, distracted, feverish brains.

• Then, ALWAYS remind them three days beforehand.

Palm Springs Pride Request for San Diegans

Please join me the weekend of November 2-3 to celebrate Palm Springs Pride! Our brothers and sisters in the Desert have invited us to participate in the festival's "Fetish in the Outfield", the Pride parade contingent, and guest lecturers and demonstrators during the festival.

Both days activities begin at 11AM and end at 6PM. The parade itself starts at 10AM on Sunday. We will be marching with members of DFA, The Bears of Coachella Valley, PSLOD, Desire, The Barracks, and of course FMSD.

Also, there are other Pride events that will be happening over the weekend that you might like to attend. For a list please go to PSPride.org.

We are also coming up with a list of people in Palm Springs that can host out of town guest. If anyone wants to do a demo or workshop lets us know as soon as possible, since we are working on a detailed schedule this year.

Our San Diego brother, Cris Campbell (cris.campbell76 AT gmail.com) is working with DFA's Jim Neff to coordinate marchers, workshop leaders and demonstrators. Please let him know ASAP if you want to be a part of this community effort!

Last year, a good number of San Diegans showed up to contribute active support, and now the invitation is going out to many others who would like to join in. Plan to take a road trip with your fetish family to the beautiful Desert during the best time of the year. We have friends out there that can host those that would prefer not to get a hotel room - please reach out to Jim (james.neff@sbcglobal.net) if you are interested in having being hosted.

This is the kickoff of a MUCH larger effort to build connections between the different cities during Pride in 2014 and beyond. The goal is to build HUGE kink/Fetish contingents in every major Southern California city. This will increase our visibility in a very positive way. Times have changed. We are no longer the shameful sub-sub-culture, and the general public is showing greater interest in knowing and understanding us. It's time to celebrate in a BIG way!

On September 22 (details way down below), there is a fundraiser Pool Party for Aaron Duke's Travel Fund.  I ask that my dear friends please make an extra effort to be there, and that you bring whatever money you can spare - even a dollar, or the change from under your sofa cushions!  If you're confused about how to get some buckeroos to him, just email me at PAPATONY AT MAC.COM - I'll get you connected.

He will be running for the national title of American Leatherman 2013.

Aaron is the Real Deal.  He has worked harder than anybody else I know, during the last year. He is just as broke as the rest of us, so he NEEDS OUR HELP. He has helped immeasurable numbers of people all over the USA during his year as Mr. San Diego Leather 2012 - You'd have thought that he already HAD an international title. Now, after being a hero and a champion for the folks who are in the greatest need, it's time for him to get some help.

IT'S PUPPY TIME!

It's PUPPY TIME, all of the TIME!  I love what is going on in the local kinky pup Tribe, because this is all about the youth of our community feeling powerful, involved, loved and supported.

The San Diego Eagle PUP 2014 Contest is a NEW Leather Title. Its goal is to set a new standard for San Diego's handler and pup community. It will occur on Saturday, October 19th, 2013, starting at 8PM.

CALLING ALL PUPS! Contestants wanted. Turn in your application and Contestant Guide at the San Diego Eagle, no later than 5PM on Oct. 16 2013.


Puppy Collaring Ceremony - On Wednesday, September 11, 2013, Daddy Ron and boy jon welcomed a new member into their Leather Family. Daddy Lee brought Pup Nikita to his new owner Daddy Ron, with boy jon (and the men of FMSD) assisting and bearing witness.


Lordy - yet another superb PUPPY NIGHT, Wednesday, October 2, 9PM @ San Diego Eagle, at 3040 North Park Way - Looks like our own Dayton has called out all of the big guns (AGAIN) for this one. I can't rave enough about these special nights. The men who attend the Men's Discussions will be heading over to the bar to support these fine young men.

Harness Party TONIGHT!


The Harness party is one of the most sociable events we have, and it's great fun.

Numbers Bar, at 3811 Park Blvd, starting at 10PM.  There is some kind of discount for men wearing a jock.

I will be there, and I urge all of my brothers to join me.

You DO NOT have to wear a harness. Just go shirtless and see what happens!


Saturday, September 14, 3-8PM @ Numbers Bar, at 3811 Park Blvd: Lube It Up And Strip It Down: The Power of Six AIDS Walk Team will host lube wresting!!!  The team includes members from the San Diego Leather Community, The San Diego Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, The Bears San Diego, The Imperial Court de San Diego, The San Diego Transgender Community, and the San Diego Gay Rodeo Association.  Each community group with have members representing them going head-to-head in slippery battle.  The audience will have the opportunity to bid on the winners and the chance to win great prizes.  It will be held at Numbers and there is a $10 door fee.

Saturday, September 14, 2013, 7:30-10pm  "HOT GUYS WITH GUNS" - San Diego Premiere! @ Birch North Park Theater at 2891 University Ave. Part time actor and full time waiter Danny (Marc Anthony Samuel), still in love with his ex, rich party boy Pip (Brian McArdle), attends a private eye class in preparation for a cop role for which he is auditioning. San Diego Eagle PUP 2014 Contest, Oct. 19, 2013

The San Diego Eagle PUP 2014 Contest is a NEW Leather Title. Its goal is to set a new standard for San Diego's handler and pup community. It will occur on Saturday, October 19th, 2013, starting at 8PM.

CALLING ALL PUPS! Contestants wanted. Turn in your application and Contestant Guide at the San Diego Eagle, no later than 5PM on Oct. 16 2013.

Be the first to represent this NEW title.  With the recent burst of interest in the Handler/pup fetish community and with all of the exciting things happening for OUR San Diego Leather LGBT community, we believe it is time to add a new title. This could even lead to an International title some day.

A CIRCLE OF MEN - A JOURNEY OF THE HEART, Wednesday, October 9

On Wednesday, October 9th at 7PM, I will present and facilitate a workshop called: "A Circle of Men - A Journey of the Heart" or "Circle of Men (COM).

As you might already know, I have been touched, moved and inspired by the development of community events sponsored or supported by FMSD.

Recently, I've been sharing part of my leather journey during some topics of the Men's Discussion on Wednesday night and in particular of the discussions about men's initiation, integrity, accountability and tapping into sacred masculine energy ie. (Wildman, Warrior, Magician, King and Lover energies).

This is a powerful workshop with group interaction and discussion where men can explore what it means to be a man in today's world, look at what's working well and isn't working in his life, and explore what is uniquely beautiful and powerful in who he is.

I'm affiliated with the Mankind Project and attended the New Warrior Training Adventure (NWTA).

I'm an advocate for men in our leather, fetish community to show up authentically, creatively, powerfully and confident in their sexuality "as men among men".

The workshop will take approximately 3 hours to facilitate depending on how many men attend.

Every man attending will obtain value from the workshop.

I have lived in the SD community of University Heights for over 7 years. I had a brief run as Mr SD Eagle 2009.

FMSD INVENTORY Discussion

FMSD will conduct their first inventory on Wednesday, September (NOT October) 18 from 7-9pm.

Businesses take inventories of their stock every year. It helps them know what items are selling and what items might not have been the best choice. If they did not do this, one might expect them to go bankrupt.

If this is truly a crowd-sourced group, then lets talk about what is working for us. What is not working for us? Is there anything we need to get rid of? What would you like to add? How can we better serve the needs of our membership?

Aaron Duke will facilitate this inventory. We will send Papa Tony off for a nice meal. No one should feel afraid to hurt his feelings. All discussion will be kept confidential. All information gathered will be used to spearhead improvements to FMSD.
